M12 gives a more substantial handable size for light spacing, alignment, custom stand-offs and non-metallic positioning where PTFE material properties are more important than metal strength. PTFE offers low surface friction, electrical insulation and broad chemical compatibility in suitable environments. It is softer and less rigid than steel or glass-filled engineering plastics, so the design should allow for plastic thread behaviour. Use compatible M12 nuts, avoid high clamping force and verify load, temperature, chemical exposure and thread engagement before fitting.
