Adjustable IR Obstacle Detection Sensor

The E18-D80NK is a compact, single-housing infrared photoelectric sensor module designed for reliable obstacle detection and proximity triggering. It operates at 5 V DC with low current consumption and provides an NPN normally open output rated for up to 100 mA. Detection distance can be adapted by altering the sensor’s mounting angle or target distance — offering practical flexibility without software or firmware changes. Its optical architecture resists interference from visible light, supporting dependable operation in typical UK home, workshop, and classroom settings. At approximately 18 mm in diameter, it fits easily into robot wheel hubs, machine guards, appliance housings, or DIY enclosures. Confirmed use cases include automatic part counting, go-maze navigation, kitchen device activation, programmable reminders, and basic access monitoring systems.
