Amaryllis Minerva \nAlthough commonly known as Amaryllis most of the bulbs offered for sale in autumn are really varieties of Hippeastrum. \nOriginating in the tropical mountain regions of Chile and Peru these amazing flowers are one of the easiest plants to bring into bloom. \nIn winter and early spring clusters of lily-like flowers are produced on thick stalks or stems over an extended period. \nThese large flowers and the ease with which they can be produced have led to Amaryllis being in demand all over the world. \nFlowering approximately 7-9 weeks after planting these fantastic plants are ideal for brightening up your home during the dark days of winter. \nThe large red flowers produced by Amaryllis Minerva have a broad white strip on each petal which creates a star like appearance. \nThe blooms which may measure up to 20cm have gently recurving petals and are carried on strong stems which are often almost 60cm tall. \nThis variety appreciates plenty of light \nFollow a few easy steps and these long-lived bulbs will bloom year after year. \nSupplied as huge bulbs (Size 36-38) often weighing a kilo or more and capable of producing a number of flower stems.
