ASTILBE \nRed Sentinel \nOften called Japanese Astilbe. \nAlso known as False Goats Beard or False Spiraea, Astilbe has become one of the mainstays of the damp, shaded or woodland garden. \nAn early flowering variety Red Sentinel forms a dense, pyramidal mound of lacy, fern like foliage. \nThis glossy dark green feathery foliage is often tinged with red and is carried on mahogany-red stems. \nThe feathery leaves of Red Sentinel are followed in mid-summer by vibrant scarlet red panicles of flowers. \nThese airy plumes sway gently in the very lightest of summer breezes. \nAstilbe Red Sentinel fills the garden with beauty like no other flower, and both the lush green foliage and blooms are great for cutting. \nAlthough Astilbe can tolerate some sun they thrive best when planted in a damp shaded border or beside water. \nVery adaptable and growing just 60cm tall, Astilbe Red Sentinel can also be grown successfully in pots and containers providing the compost is kept moist. \nReputed to be one of the very best red Astilbes. \nAll pictures used are of mature plants in full bloom and are for illustration purposes only, they may not reflect plants at all times of the year. \nOur plants of Red Sentinel are supplied ex. 9cm pots, they can be planted out immediately but better results may be obtained if they are grown on for a short time in a slightly larger container before transplanting to their final growing positions. \nRiver Lady has produced a wonderful little on this variety, you can view it here \nPACK 1 PLANT \nIMMEDIATE \n \n and view our wide and varied range of  Perennials  \n We ask all our buyers to remember Astilbe plants are living items and their appearance changes with the seasons.  Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website.
