BEETROOT Boltardy \nA classic beetroot, round, with red juicy flesh and suitable for immediate use or winter storage \nBoltardy likes a sunny spot in moist, fertile soil but it will also thrive in raised beds, pots or containers. \nEarly sowings can be made from late winter but raising plants is tricky, so it’s best to sow seeds directly into the soil from April to July. \nA couple of weeks before sowing beetroot, spread a general fertiliser across the site and rake it into the soil. \nMake a 2cm deep trench with a cane and drop in two seeds every 10cm \nCover, water well and when the seedlings are about 2cm high, remove the weakest of each pair. \nIf you want a plentiful supply of beetroot, sow seeds every month, keeping rows 20cm apart. \nBeetroot is ready to be picked when the roots are between the size of a golf ball and a tennis ball, this is usually 50-70 days after sowing. \nRemove the tops by twisting them off with your hands to prevent the plants bleeding their juice but don't throw these away, they have bags of taste and can be cooked and eaten like spinach. \nFreshly picked beetroot are wonderfully tender with a delicious earthy taste and best of all, they're really easy to grow. \nBeetroot Boltardy carries a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit (AGM). \nFull planting instructions on the back of packet. \nPacket contains: 280 seeds approx. \nIMMEDIATE \n \nWe want you to be happy with your purchase and all our Beetroot seed is checked and inspected visually before packing. .
