CHIVES \nAllium schoenoprasum \nChives are herbaceous perennial plants with pink decorative flowers and long thin aromatic leaves. \nThey are the smallest and most delicate member of the onion family and are used for seasoning. \nA very popular herb, Chives can be cultivated both in the vegetable and flower gardens. \nThey take up very little space and are also suitable for growing in pots and containers. \nThe long, green blades of Chives which are hollow inside have a mild, grassy flavour similar to baby spring onions or young leeks. \nThe whole plant can be eaten from top to bottom and is high in vitamin C. \nChives keeps their leaves in most winters but in an extremely cold season they may die back completely, however don't despair, the roots are still alive and the plant will begin new growth in spring. \nOur high yielding variety is intended for forcing as well as field growing. \nChives need a fertile, well-drained soil and are equally at home in full sun or partial shade although to much shade can result in straggly plants and fewer flowers. \nDetailed growing instructions are on the back of each packet \nPacket contains: 190 seeds approx. \nIMMEDIATE \n \nDesign and colouring of packets may occasionally vary. \nWe want you to be happy with your purchase and all our Chives seed is checked and inspected visually before packing. .
