Classic Mechanical Chess Timer

Physical specs: 15 × 5.5 × 9 cm. Crafted using layered wood panels and reinforced plastic support structures — rigid enough to withstand repeated button actuation, yet light enough for easy portability between home, club, and regional events. Surface: Uniform wood-colour grain with matte protective coating to resist fingerprints and minor abrasions. Functionality: Dual independent mechanical timers, each activated by a dedicated side-mounted lever. Wound manually before use; requires no external power. Accuracy benchmark: ≤1 second deviation per 24 hours — tested using ISO 7592-aligned methodology under stable lab conditions. Contextual use: Preferred by UK primary school chess coordinators for its simplicity, adopted by Scottish Chess Association youth programs for safety (no small batteries), and regularly featured in Chess Scotland’s equipment recommendations for beginner-friendly, regulation-adjacent timing tools.
