CMI8738 PCI-E 5.1 Audio Card

Built around the proven CMI8738 multi-channel audio processor, this PCI-Express x1 sound card provides full 5.1 surround output and 24-bit/48 kHz playback and recording. It complies with PCI-E 1.1 and AC’97 revision 2.3 standards, fitting most desktop motherboards with available PCIe x1 slots. Constructed on durable PCB substrate for thermal stability and signal integrity over extended use. Supports Windows 7, Vista and XP (both 32-bit and 64-bit editions) without additional driver sourcing. The card enables true hardware-based 3D audio acceleration via A3D 1.0, DS3D, DirectSound 3D and EAX — crucial for authentic spatial effects in classic and early-2000s games. Its noise balance cancellation minimises audible clicks and thumps when powering the PC on or off. All six channels — front left/right, centre, surround left/right, and LFE — are electrically isolated to prevent crosstalk and preserve directional accuracy. Ideal for users upgrading aging onboard audio in Windows 7 workstations, building dedicated retro-gaming PCs, or integrating into compact HTPCs where USB audio introduces latency or driver instability.
