COLOCASIA esculenta

\nCommonly known as Taro but has many other local names.
\nA tropical looking plant grown for its edible tuber but its large heart or elephant ear shaped leaves makes it a very distinctive plant in the garden.
\nNative to south-eastern Asia Colocasia has been cultivated for around 6000 years and prefers a damp boggy site or water’s edge.
\nFull sun or partial shade, Colocasia Bun is unfussy and will thrive in either.
\nThe edible corm of Bun has purple fibres running though-out.
\nOften used in Hawaiian and Chinese cooking Bun is also considered the best variety or making Taro chips.
\nWhy not grow a Colocasia esculenta yourself and try a new recipe, something like poi or Chinese bubble tea.
