Cotinus Young Lady. The Smoke Tree
COTINUS Young Lady
\nCommonly known as Smoke Bush or Rhus Cotinus but sometimes referred to as Venetian Sumach or Wig Tree.
\nA deciduous, very attractive dwarf, compact shrub with dark green leaves.
\nFrom mid-summer it carries stunning plumes of smokey-pink flowers held above the foliage.
\nCloud or smoke-like in appearance these wonderful, airy, panicles of bloom give the plant its common name of Smoke Bush.
\nAfter the flowers have faded in autumn the leaves turn fiery shades of red and orange before falling for the winter months.
\nThis beautiful leaf colour makes for a spectacular autumn display

\nSeldom growing more than 1.25m tall it prefers a sunny site with fertile, well-drained soil but it can tolerate partial shade.
\nAny maintenance necessary on Cotinus Young Lady should be carried out in spring.

\nPlease remember plant maintenance within our nursery is absolutely essential and means we need to prune back some items at certain times of the year to help maintain shape and encourage new growth.
\nWe ask all our buyers to remember Cotinus are living items and their appearance changes with the seasons. Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website. This is quite normal and not a matter for any worry or concern, it is likely to be in perfect condition for the time of year. Particularly in autumn and winter many shrubs will lose their leaves and look rather bare, gaunt and stick-like and from August onwards many perennial plants may not even be showing above the soil.\n\nWe want you to be happy with your purchase and all our Cotinus are checked and inspected visually before packing. at . . Due to the nature of the goods we cannot accept any responsibility for their failure after planting as pests, disease, poor horticultural practice, extremes of weather and many other factors outside our control all take their toll.
