Construction: Flame-retardant polycarbonate (PC) case with internal conductive metal shield; PCB layout follows FTDI reference design for optimal signal routing and thermal dispersion; no onboard power supply — draws 5V only from USB host port. Delivers two independent serial interface capabilities from one USB endpoint: TTL UART mode (DTR/RTS handshake support) and RS485 mode (with automatic or manual direction control). TTL voltage level is fixed at 5V — users requiring 3.3V logic must add external level shifters. Used widely in education labs for teaching serial communication fundamentals, in automation for bridging USB-equipped HMIs to RS485 field devices (e.g., temperature controllers, motor drives), and in R&D for rapid validation of sensor firmware before ASIC integration.
