GERANIUM Johnsons Blue \nCommonly known as Cranesbill. \nShould not be confused with the half hardy Pelargonium which is popularly referred to as Geranium. \nThe Geranium of the herbaceous border is a hardy perennial which is grown as a ground cover plant. \nFirst grown in the British Isles in the 16th century its mounds of dense and deeply divided leaves serving to suppress weed growth. \nGeraniums thrive in any reasonable soil and will happily grow in sun or dappled shade. \nJohnson's Blue is immensely popular and is smothered in mid-blue flowers from May - August. \nThe saucer shaped flowers should be removed once they have faded. \nKeep for slugs in spring and cut the stems back to ground level in autumn. \nAll pictures used are of mature plants in bloom and are for illustration purposes only.
