Description

Hebe Pageii. Dwarf, Mat Forming Shrub.

HEBE pageii \n A dwarf, mat-forming evergreen shrub with small, silvery-blue-grey leaves on purplish-brown stems. \nNamed around 1926 after Edward Page, a foreman at Dunedin Botanical Gardens. \nReaching only approx. 6” high Hebe pageii is excellent in groups, forming effective ground cover, the stems rooting as they grow. \nMakes an attractive rockery plant and can also be useful at the front of a border. \nPageii is sometimes used as an edging plant for large containers. \nIts low growing habit and needing little or no pruning makes it a favourite for low maintenance gardens. \nHebe pageii produces masses of pure-white flowers that cover the plant in late spring and early summer. \nWidely grown in the UK and Ireland, it is hardy and is one of the first of the Hebe family to flower. \nIt is both salt and pollution tolerant and therefore suitable for city and coastal gardens. \nLike all Hebe pageii will tolerate some shade but flowers best in full sun. \nPrefers a moist, free-draining soil that is poor or only moderately fertile. \nRoyal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit (AGM). \nAll pictures of Pageii used are of mature plants in bloom, they are for illustration purposes only and may not reflect the plant at all times of the year. \nOur plants are supplied ex. 9cm pots, they can be planted out immediately but better results may be obtained if they are grown on for a short time in a slightly larger container before transplanting to their final growing positions \nPACK 1 PLANT \nIMMEDIATE \n \nPlease remember plant maintenance is absolutely essential and means we need to prune back some items at certain times of the year to help maintain shape and encourage new growth. \nWe ask all our buyers to remember Hebe are living items and their appearance changes with the seasons.  Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website. This is quite normal and not a matter for any worry or concern, it is likely to be in perfect condition for the time of year. Particularly in autumn and winter many shrubs will lose their leaves and look rather bare, gaunt and stick-like and from August onwards many perennial plants may not even be showing above the soil.\n\nWe want you to be happy with your purchase and all our Hebe are checked and inspected visually before packing. . Due to the nature of the goods we cannot accept any responsibility for their failure after planting as pests, disease, poor horticultural practice, extremes of weather and many other factors outside our control all take their toll.
