Description
Hydrangea Red Baron. Mophead.
Hydrangea RED BARON.
\nSometimes called Bigleaf Hydrangea or French Hydrangea.
\nA compact mophead hydrangea, deciduous, with a rounded upright habit.
\nRed Baron leaves are oval in shape, dark green with a slight purple flush and serrated.
\nThe large domed flower heads emerge rose-pink with a creamy eye, they gradually turn crimson before finally maturing purple.
\nMoist, well-drained humus rich acid soil in full sun or partial shade would be the site of choice.
\nThe more acid the soil the more intense the flower colour.
\nGrowing just 120-130cms high with a similar spread makes Red Baron ideal for growing in beds, borders and also in pots and containers.
\nAlthough fully hardy leaving the mature flower heads on the plant makes an interesting feature and helps to prevent frost damage in winter.
\nRoyal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit (AGM).

\nWTHR has some great tips on How to Care for your new plant and you can .
\nPlease remember plant maintenance is absolutely essential and means we need to prune back some items at certain times of the year to help maintain shape and encourage new growth.
\nWe ask all our buyers to remember Hydrangea are living items and their appearance changes with the seasons. Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website. This is quite normal and not a matter for any worry or concern, it is likely to be in perfect condition for the time of year. Particularly in autumn and winter many shrubs will lose their leaves and look rather bare, gaunt and stick-like and from August onwards many perennial plants may not even be showing above the soil.
\nWe want you to be happy with your purchase and all our items are checked and inspected visually before packing. . Due to the nature of the goods we cannot accept any responsibility for their failure after planting as pests, disease, poor horticultural practice, extremes of weather and many other factors outside our control all take their toll.
