Long-Tail Resistive Pressure Switch

The FSR402 functions as a long-tail resistive pressure switch — meaning its resistance curve offers extended sensitivity at low-force ranges before saturating near full scale. With a nominal operating range of 0 g to 10 kg and a 5-inch circular active zone, it provides intuitive, analog-style feedback ideal for detecting subtle initial contact or progressive engagement. Manufactured using robust plastic and metal layers, it maintains structural integrity under repeated flexing and compression. Rated for 10 million cycles, it supports sustained use in iterative development workflows. Typical applications include tactile feedback in assistive devices, footfall detection in autonomous navigation systems, and stimulus-triggered data logging in preclinical animal behaviour studies — all while avoiding the expense and calibration burden of precision instrumentation.
