LYSIMACHIA Firecracker \nMore commonly known as Loosestrife. \nAn elegant upright perennial plant native to North America. \nFirecracker forms mounds of whorled lance shaped burgundy or purple leaves which fade to almost green as the season passes and summer turns to autumn. \nWhen left untouched these mounds can make sizeable patches. \nIn mid-summer, slender stalks rise above the foliage and carry bright yellow slightly pendant star shaped flowers which contract well with the dark foliage. \nLysimachia Firecracker is excellent in the border, bog garden or at the edge of ponds and outstanding in containers or beneath shrubs. \nA very useful cut flower the flower stalks may need to be staked but if planted at the back of the border other plants can be used for support. \nLoosestrife is tolerant of a wet or boggy site and light shade but prefers full sun and a moist humus-rich soil. \nRoyal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit (AGM). \nAll pictures used are of mature plants in full bloom, they are for illustration purposes only and may not necessarily reflect plants at all times of the year. \nOur Lysimachia plants are supplied ex. 9cm pots, they can be planted out immediately but better results may be obtained if they are grown on for a short time in a slightly larger container before transplanting to their final growing positions. \nCheck out this article by Gardeners World on this very colourful plant. \nPACK 1 PLANT \nIMMEDIATE \n \nOur wide and varied range of Perennials can be view here. \nPlease remember, plant maintenance within our nursery is absolutely essential and means we need to prune back some items at certain times of the year to help maintain shape and encourage new growth. \nWe ask all our buyers to remember Loosestrife is a living items and its appearance changes with the seasons.  Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website.
