Persicaria Superba. Polygonum
PERSICARIA Superba
\nCommonly known as Firetail or Knotweed and has also been called Polygonum.
\nA clump forming herbaceous perennial with large, handsome, mid-green, deeply veined leaves and renowned for its long flowering period.
\nFrom June Persicaria produces long slender spikes of purplish red flowers, these rise above the mound of foliage and last well into October.
\nPersicaria Superba prefers a site with heavy soil that does not dry out.
\nLooks well in a border but is magnificent when planted at the edge of a pond or in a damp spot in the garden with a little dappled shade.
\nExcels when used as ground cover.
\nKnotweed is a great plant for attracting beneficial insects to the garden, bees in particular love the flowers.
\nA great statement plant, fully hardy, rugged, vigorous but not invasive.
\nGrowing 60-90cms tall with a spread of 40-60cms Persicaria Superba is a very popular and rewarding garden plant.
\nEasy to grow and care for, cut back after flowering and lift and divide overcrowded clumps every three to four years.

\nPlease remember, plant maintenance within our nursery is absolutely essential and means we need to prune back some items at certain times of the year to help maintain shape and encourage new growth.
\nWe ask all our buyers to remember Persicaria Superba is a living item and its appearance changes with the seasons. Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website. This is quite normal and not a matter for any worry or concern, it is likely to be in perfect condition for the time of year. Particularly in autumn and winter many shrubs will lose their leaves and look rather bare, gaunt and stick-like and from August onwards many perennial plants may not even be showing above the soil.\n\n We want you to be happy with your purchase and all our Firetail are checked and inspected visually before packing. at . . Due to the nature of the product we cannot accept any responsibility for their failure after planting as pests, disease, poor horticultural practice, extremes of weather and many other factors outside our control all take their toll.
