Description
Primula Beesiana. Bee'S Primrose.
Primula beesiana,
\nAlso called and perhaps better known as Bee’s Primrose or Candelabra Primrose.
\nA deciduous or occasionally semi-evergreen perennial that forms flat, basal rosettes of light green, crinkly, lance shaped leaves around 20cms long.
\nIn late spring and early summer Candelabra Primrose produce strong stems or spikes from the centre of these rosettes of leaves.
\nEach spike rarely less than 60cms tall bears loose, tiered clusters or whorls of small brightly coloured reddish-purple flowers each one with a yellow eye.
\nWith this Primula each stem can have between six to eight of these clusters or whorls.
\nPrimula beesiana is a good choice for a damp, woodland site or a partially shaded border in the cottage garden.
\nVery effective when used along the side of steams, ponds or in the water garden.
\nNative to the mountain meadows of China, Primula beesiana in full bloom is a dramatic sight, especially when grown en-masse.
\nBest results are obtained when Primula beesiana is planted in moist, humus-rich, neutral to acid soil with dappled or partial shade.
\nCan and will tolerate full sun but the site must be moist at all times, the more moisture in the soil the more sun it will tolerate.
\nPrimula beesiana is an easy plant to grow and should be allowed to self-seed so no deadheading is needed.
\nRoyal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit. (AGM).
\nAll pictures used are of mature plants in full bloom and may not necessarily reflect plants at all times of the year.
\nOur Primula beesiana are ed as well grown jumbo plug plants which are best grown on in a 9 or 10cm pot for a short time before transplanting to their growing positions or as 9cm Pot Plants.
\nPlease remember plant maintenance within our nursery is absolutely essential and means we need to prune back some items at certain times of the year to help maintain shape and encourage new growth.

\nWe ask all our buyers to remember Candelabra Primrose are living items and their appearance changes with the seasons. Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website. This is quite normal and not a matter for any worry or concern, it is likely to be in perfect condition for the time of year. Particularly in autumn and winter many shrubs will lose their leaves and look rather bare, gaunt and stick-like and from August onwards many perennial plants may not even be showing above the soil.\n\n We want you to be happy with your Bee's Primrose and all our items are checked and inspected visually before packing. at . . Due to the nature of the goods we cannot accept any responsibility for their failure after planting as pests, disease, poor horticultural practice, extremes of weather and many other factors outside our control all take their toll. . . .
