Description

PRUNUS \nincisa \nOchidora \n\n\n From the slopes of Japan’s famous volcano the Fuji cherry is a dainty slow-growing small tree but is more often seen as a large shrub.\n\nHighly regarded as an ornamental this double flowered variety was discovered in a farmer’s garden at Gotenbo City, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. \nThe flowers, pink in bud, opening a lighter shade of pink hang in pendant clusters and can have as many as 20-50 petals. \nBlooming early (April) it is generally regarded as a better choice for small gardens than its larger cousins, the familiar Japanese flowering cherries. \nLeaves emerge yellowish-green at flowering time and give a spectacular display of colour before falling in autumn. \nA well-drained fertile site is best and Prunus incisa seems to thrive better on lime or over chalk than on acid soil. \nEasy to grow, totally hardy and disease free, no pruning is necessary and unlike other cherries they are not prone to canker. \nJapanese people often use Prunus incisa for bonsai work and it can also be used for hedging. \nAll pictures used are of mature plants in bloom, they are for illustration purposes only and may not reflect the plant at all times of the year. \nOur plants are supplied ex. 7cm pots, they can be planted out immediately but better results may be obtained if they are grown on for a short time in a slightly larger container before transplanting to their final growing positions \nPACK 1 PLANT \nIMMEDIATE \n \nWhen ordering dates may vary a little if harvest or weather conditions are difficult. \nWe ask all our buyers to remember plants are living items and their appearance changes with the seasons.  Please don’t panic if the plant you receive looks different to the image on the website. This is quite normal and not a matter for any worry or concern, it is likely to be in perfect condition for the time of year. Particularly in autumn and winter many shrubs will lose their leaves and look rather bare, gaunt and stick-like and from August onwards many perennial plants may not even be showing above the soil.\n\nWe want you to be happy with your purchase and all our items are checked and inspected visually before packing. at .  . Due to the nature of the goods we cannot accept any responsibility for their failure after planting as pests, disease, poor horticultural practice, extremes of weather and many other factors outside our control all take their toll. . .
