De struik groeit krachtig en heeft een hoge vrucht opbrengst. Het is een van de vroegst rijpende rode bessen, de bessen zijn al rond eind juni rijp. De bessen groeien in lange trossen en hebben een zure, maar frisse smaak. Je kunt ze bijvoorbeeld eten in vlaai of als jam. De struik bloeit in het voorjaar met kleine groen-witte bloemen.
