Vertus \nEasily recognised by its crisp, puckered, dark green, ridged leaves savoy cabbage has a milder flavour and a softer texture than other cabbage types. \nVertus produces flat round heads of greyish-green leaves. \nIt has a pale tender heart and needs only brief cooking. \nLate to mature and extremely hardy Vertus will withstand the harshest of our winters. \nSavoy cabbage contains more vitamin C than oranges, as well as a large number of minerals, including iodine, calcium, magnesium, and potassium. \nBoth the Greeks and Romans wisely valued cabbage as a healthy food; however, they did go a little far in assuming it would cure drunkenness. \nVertus is suitable for immediate use or for storage. \nAs with all cabbage this variety needs well consolidated soil so leave several months between digging and planting. \nAdd farmyard manure to the soil when digging but never apply fresh manure before planting. \nBirds can be a problem, young seedlings will need protection from sparrows. \nMature cabbage may also need some protection from pigeons. \nDetailed growing instructions are on the back of each packet \nPacket contains: 50 seeds approx. \nIMMEDIATE \n \nDesign and colouring of packets may occasionally vary. \nWe want you to be happy with your purchase and all our Cabbage seed is checked and inspected visually before packing. .
