Traditional Bitter Bamboo Flute

Time-honoured dizi flute hand-carved from naturally matured bitter bamboo — selected for straight grain, uniform wall density, and absence of insect damage. No chemical bleaching or artificial drying; bamboo aged in shaded, ventilated storage for minimum 24 months to stabilise moisture content and enhance sonic maturity. Finished with food-grade beeswax polish only — preserving natural porosity and resonance. Available in five keys (G/F/E/D/C) to suit diverse musical intentions: G and F for melodic clarity and teaching; E for balanced expressiveness; D and C for dramatic power and bass-line articulation in ensemble contexts. Each flute undergoes individual acoustic testing — checking fundamental pitch stability, octave alignment, and response across dynamic range (piano to forte). Comes complete with historically appropriate accessories: hand-cut dimo membrane (Phragmites reed), fermented rice glue, breathable flannel bag, and hand-knotted silk cord — all chosen to uphold functional and symbolic continuity with Ming- and Qing-era dizi practice.
