Traditional Wooden Chess Timer Count Up Down

Measurements: 15 cm length × 5.5 cm width × 9 cm height — compact enough for travel in standard chess bags, yet substantial enough to remain anchored during vigorous use. Material: Real wood veneer over layered plywood core + high-density plastic base and mechanism housing. Surface: Matte, unfinished wood grain — warm to touch, non-slip, and fingerprint-resistant. Timing method: Pure mechanical clockwork — no circuitry, no software, no connectivity. Wound manually; timing initiated by firm button press. Dual-mode capability built into gear train design — no switches or dials required. Accuracy verified against certified quartz reference over 72-hour test period. Contextual fit: Chosen by UK Chess Challenge organisers for regional finals, stocked by German chess specialty retailers (e.g., Schach Nürnberg), and integrated into Dutch primary school curriculum kits — valued for pedagogical clarity, physical engagement, and cultural continuity with historical chess timing traditions.
