Wool Seam Pressing Mat Dual-Side

Material: 100% wool. Size: 13.5 × 17 × 0.5 inches (34.3 × 43.2 × 1.3 cm). Uniform thickness confirmed across full surface — critical for even pressure distribution during seam grading, understitching or sleeve cap easing. This mat excels specifically in seam-focused applications: its thermal mass allows heat to dwell longer at seam allowances, softening thread tension and setting stitches more effectively than air-cooled surfaces. Simultaneously, the wool’s resilience provides gentle counter-pressure — helping flatten seam allowances without crushing seam rolls or distorting curved edges. The absence of synthetic layers prevents heat ‘bounce’ or inconsistent conductivity often found in composite pads. Developed with input from UK-based quilt guilds and tailoring instructors — validated for use with cotton batiste, wool crepe, rayon challis and other fabrics prone to shine or distortion under conventional ironing conditions.
